So you're saying I look fat?

Let me first start by saying that I love salt. I often salt things before I even taste them. This is probably why I retain water like a camel. Now that pregnancy hormones are surging through my veins and my digestion has slowed down (apparently that's a side effect), I am bloated beyond all recognition. Literally. I ran into a friend of mine's mom the other day at work and she reported back to my friend "Liz's face has gotten bigger"... which is a really polite way of saying "Dang she kind of blew up!"

This morning, one of the physicians I work with came in to chat and said "you look like you feel pregnant." I don't really know how to take that one. My boobs are bigger? Check. You look like you sort of want to yack on the desk? Check. Your face looks bigger? Damnit.

Time to lay of the salt and start walking Zapato (our dog/ first child) around the block to get the blood flow circulating.

Still goin up!

My levels were 1221 yesterday! Still going up. I graphed it. The font is kind of small, but the blue line is what I calculated the levels would be and the red is what they actually are.

Overachiever

Just a little update. Monday's bloodwork came back and showed my HCG level jumped to 360! From what I understand, the levels double every 36-48 hours. This little bean is fast at work doubling every 31! This totally explains the feeling of weird on Sunday. Not nauseous or anything. Just weird. Like I was a step behind everything.

I go back for more blood work Monday 1/31 just to make sure everything is still going according to plan. Thursday 2/17 is my first appointment with my OB. I don't know how I am going to contain myself for 3 weeks.

Reassurance

Thursday, I called my Dr's office and they asked me to come in for a blood test to confirm. HCG level came back 34 (which means pregnant). So, even though I had my confirmation, Ryan graciously splurged on the fancy digital tests so we could actually see the word "pregnant."

As of today, I am starting my 5th week of pregnancy. It is so weird to type that out.

Yup.

Thanks to half a gallon of water, holding my bladder for 4 straight hours, and running to CVS on the way home I was able to take another test after work.

Positive! No doubt about this line!!

Now it is time to sit back, pray and wait for the time when we can tell our families :)

Seriously?

I really think I see a line on my pregnancy test. Could it be?
