This was me (after the edema went down a bit) at 24 weeks... I'm a little delayed at getting photos from my camera to the computer.

Best. Description. Ever.

I was talking to an extremely laid back, awesome co-worker with a 1 year old about what it's going to be like with a kiddo in the house. I know that there's nothing in the world that can prepare me for the joy and destruction we are about to experience so I have no expectations whatsoever. When I relayed this sentiment to Co-Worker she said:

"Yeah having a kid is great. You laugh a lot, but not at what you would think is funny before having a kid. Like, projectile poop is really funny. Especially when it hits the wall and none makes it on the carpet. Pretty amazing stuff, the poop. But really, it's like living with a really cute crack-head. They depend on you for everything, eat all your food, take all your money, destroy your house, cannot communicate coherently, test your last nerve, and won't get a job"

I waited for more, like "but its all sunshine and rainbows and totally worth it magicalness" but she just smiled, sipped her coffee and sighed.

She's my new favorite at work.

Lessons Learned

So our crib bedding came in yesterday. It was a custom job done by a very sweet lady I found on Etsy.com. Throughout our correspondence, I asked her to indicate on the shipping box not to throw the package over the fence because of our vicious attack dog, Zapato, and what he could potentially do to the bedding.

The bedding turned out great, pictures to come, but I think I was more excited about the custom shipping label.

Things that are not fun

1. Sleeping sitting upright to prevent urping your dinner. Ahhh heartburn.
2. A belly button with an overbite. Yeah you read that right.
3. Still being hungry after eating a meal, but not physically being able to eat more food because your stomach is too squished.
4. Feeling like this everytime I need to get up or switch sides. Although, this is becoming less of an issue now that I am having to sleep sitting up. Somehow I still manage to wake up laying horizontal. It just takes me that much longer to switch the alarm off in the morning.

24 weeks!

My goodness, am I really that far along now??? Do we really only have 16 more weeks to prepare for a life changing event?? Geez. We have a lot to do.

Fun facts:
I am officially in my 6th month of pregnancy. I still can't quite fit into maternity shirts. I hate chicken now (unless it's fried). All I want is steak and fish. I am officially halfway finished with my MBA!

Another fun fact: From the moment I found out I was pregnant, all I could think about was how life was going to change. For some reason, one of the things I was incredibly focused on was how I was going to go fishing for long periods of time if I was still breastfeeding. I know it is a ridiculous thing to focus on especially since I haven't been fishing in like 3 years. There are more important things to focus on (like, how are we actually going to raise a human?). But I found myself totally fixated on this. And how vacations with my husband were going to forever change. So what did we do about this?? First, I scheduled a babymoon with my darling hubby for July to Destin for a long weekend.

Second, my Dad took me fishing last weekend. We had a couple of days of all day fishing and it was awesome. The only downside to fishing while 6 months pregnant standing a lot in the sun, heat and humidity is the size my feet and ankles decided to swell to. Grade 2 pitting edema...not fun...but worth it for plenty of trout. Exactly how much water was retained? Well, last night I got home I weighed myself (and then pouted a little). This morning (after getting up 4 times in the middle of the night) I was 5 pounds lighter.

Anyhow, here's the bean (with swollen mom) at 24 weeks.

We went shopping!

This weekend, our only goal (besides napping) was to purchase a crib. Mission accomplished... and then some. The crib and matching dresser will be here in about 4-6 weeks.

We also bought a Baby K'tan wrap. Sort of an impulse purchase, but Ryan really really liked it so we went with it. I wasn't entirely sold on strapping the kiddo to my body, but after we got home and we tested it on our in house QA department, I am a total covert. That thing is soooo comfortable!

Baby news: At 23 weeks and over a pound, the critter is moving all over the place and taking advantage of the real estate while it can. Everything looks and is measuring great!
